Weekend Emergency Preparation Course

This new course has been designed for 2027 in response to the Governments continuing advice to stockpile and prepare 3 days worth of supplies for an array of unknown disaster scenarios. Off the back of this we have received enquiries for a course to equip participants with the information and knowledge to be confident and comfortable in a situation such as this.

This course does not seek to scaremonger and promote hardcore prepping but seeks instead to pose questions and scenarios and introduce reasonable steps that can be taken by normal people to be ready for the worst.

The course will remain fluid and led by the groups ideas and scenarios but will include elements of:

- Worst case scenarios - different potential situations and how this might affect an effective preparation

- The 'Survival Needs' - How to prioritise your bodies needs based on risk

- Long term vs Short term survival - how the mentality of survival changes with time

- The 'Survival Box' - Useful kit and equipment to have at your disposal, prioritising its importance and creating redundancies.

-  Practical skills - How to actually use your equipment or find/make alternatives from the land

- 'The more you know the less you need to carry' -  applying this principle to emergency planning and analysing its potential impact.

The subjects encompassed in this course include:

- The science and mentality of survival

- Fire

- Water

- Shelter

- Knife, Saw and Axe proficiency

- Knotwork

- Animal Acquisition

- Animal Preparation and Preservation

- Foraging/Resources Acquisition

- Navigation and Map/Compass skills

- First Aid

We do not set an itinerary for this course as the pace is dictated by the group, over the weekend you will aim to fully integrate yourself into the woods and wider environment and become self sufficient. The skills and techniques you need to live in the wilderness are expertly demonstrated and explained so that you can master them before leaving the course. You need have no knowledge of survival skills to attend this course. This is learning through experience at its best. The itinerary may change dependant on the weather but all subjects will be covered. Most people come on this course as individuals or pairs.  If you have a large group, please contact us for your own weekend.

The course will run from 9am on the Saturday to 2pm on the Sunday. Lunch and Dinner will be provided on the Saturday and Breakfast and lunch on the Sunday.
